Score!

I can't believe I am blogging about bowls but I feel like I really scored with this set. I was at my favorite junk shop looking for supplies to make soap. I found everything PLUS these nesting bowls that not only pour but have a handle. I probably paid around 1 or 2 dollars. I dont really know because she gave me a bulk price on everything that I bought. Here are my nice bowls side by side. I also bought a set of aluminum bowls that are nesting bowls. I will use those for when I am making candles and soap because of what they are made of. NOW, if I could only score a deal on some glass bowls!

Pillows for sale at Nooks and Crannies

I decided that it was time for me to open up a store on Etsy. I really dont have room to keep all the things that I make but dont really want to stop making things so, it is time to sell some of my itmes. Below are two pillows that I made this past week. Here is a close up of the crochet pillow. I am thinking about changing the silk flowr to a crochet flower but I need my moms help with that and right now she is in Florida. The top of the pillow is tied together with fabric scraps. I love the look of new and shabby. This pillow started out as me just practicing my crochet skills. I couldn't just throw all that work away- so a pillow was the most logical use for it.
I will definetly be making more pillows with graphics.

I love the graphic on this pillow. I happen to love primitive/country decorating even though I dont have a lot of it in my house. It really could live in any decor but I have to admit that I was in a "primitive" mood when I made it. I will let you know when my etsy store is open!

Mommy's yummy bed

Isabella falling asleep in my bed. I can remember the love and warmth I felt being in my parents bed. All of my kids love to be in my bed! I enjoy having them come in at night and watch a movie with me. They have all had their turn coming in at night, needing some snuggle time with mom and dad. What will I ever do when they have all flown from the nest.

Haiti

This is my son Joe. Today, he got some of the required shots that he needs for his trip to Haiti. The doctor encouraged me to give him some of the flu shots so I did. I can't even express how I feel right now. Wanting him to go and yet wanting him to stay with me where it is safe. I know Joe- he would go no matter what danger lurks. How as a mom do you let go? I am praying that God would give me a peace about all of this when the time comes to make the decision. Please keep our family in your prayers.

Bird Cage Makeover

I found this birdcage holder when I was out yard saleing with some friends. The lady said it was an antique??? I really didn't care if it was old, I just knew I wanted it and for 10.00 I could not pass it up. It was an ugly green color. The bottom of it had daisies painted on it. NOT ME! (the shelf that you can see throug the bird cage is not hanging from the cage) Here it is all shabby chiced! I painted the whole thing white (of course) then added this bird cage that I found in my sisters shed. She graciously gave it to me. I added a little light inside of the bird cage and then wrapped crystal beading around the circle. The whole thing only cost me the 10.00 that I paid for the cage.
I really love this piece. You could hang other things from the hook like a wreath or different style bird house. When you turn the light on it makes great mood lighting.

Vintage Recipe box-made for 1.00

I like the idea of a recipe box because the books that I have seem to fall apart quickly. I found this recipe box at Michaels for a 1.00 but they style did not go with my kitchen. For those of you who know me, you know that I believe in spray paint and always keep in stock! (the bird cage to the right is a makeover for another post) Here is the box sprayed with my favorite shade of pink. I was scared the cardboard material that the box was made up would not stand up to wet paint but it did just fine!
Here it is simply decorated with some things that I had in my craft room. I am not overwhelmingly happy with how it came out. I wanted a vintage feel to it. I might change it up later but for now it is cute and practical.

Here is a close up of the very front. The jewel on it is an old clip on earring that I got at a flea market.
